Interesting Day
Early call to catch the early races and race they did. Pretty fun course with a little hill, left hander in to an alley and S sytle turn and a long straight with a divider thrown in for an extra challenge.
The divider which was a about a 1/4 into the start finish straight was, for the majority of racers, taken down the right hand side which was a touch less bumpy than the left side. Over the course of the day as the rain started to fall consistently the races heated up and the crashes came as skinny tires and rain slicked road and stepping over the handling line brought more than a few people down.
I have to say Karl Keister is a serious stud. The gentleman from Spike Cycling lapped the field during their challenging and fun race. He just rolled off the front while locals Bruce Hodgkins and his Excel Sports along with the Subway posse tried to run Keister down, the harder they pushed the faster Keister rode and pulled out a well deserved and calculated win.
The pro men came up and Will Frishkorn (T/C) and Jonathan Garcia (E-Mob) thew down and hammered their way to a hard fought finish, they just flat out rode that race into the ground and took off for the win. They both had team mates in the front of the peloton to slow the race down and control the tempo. Some major efforts came from Chuck Colye (VC) Dan Shmatz (KGSN) who rode on the front and tried to bring em back but a that point the race was blown. Ultimately those two rode alone for about an hour and just dominated. In the end Frishkorn out kicked Garcia for the win and a nice local win.
To be continued...
